lcp was hired by Biederman Redevelopment Ventures to explore branding, signage, wayfinding and branded environmental design for the historic Old Oakland neighborhood within the City of Oakland. Our team began with an assessment of the various types of City, branded and business signage throughout the neighborhood and paired that with a collection of precedents to explore herein. The resulting concepts explored the ideas of neighborhood connections, city squares, and the idea that Old (Oakland) is New. Each of the concepts included a proposed identify, color palette, typeface, and selections for branded environments and wayfinding elements throughout the neighborhood.
