Over the 6 year effort of lcp working at Toronto Pearson, GTAA identified a specific decision node within Terminal 1 where they can explore and test out different systems for conveying information, wayfinding, technology, branded environments, retail services, etc. The intention behind this node, was to use it as a testing ground for elements that could be rolled out throughout the two terminals as needed. lcp has supported GTAA through four different testing phases over this period, working with Stantec Architecture and Kasian Architecture. The first exploration period focuses primarily on testing out different sign can options, as well as typeface sizes, colors, removable panels, etc. The second focused more on different in-person and technology-based systems for sharing flight and airport service information. The last design exploration encompassed a larger architectural overhaul that integrated a large experiential branded environment and digital display area.
